My fellow Tigers, Pacificans, Colleagues, Friends – The newspaper in your hands will be the last for this semester.
It has been a challenge, an adventure, and most definitely an honor to be your Editor-In-Chief this past academic year. I must start this by congratulating my staff and volunteers for a year well done; a year of improvements and journalistic passion. Furthermore, I wish to thank them. They deserve thanks not only for their dedication to 12 pages of weekly creativity and reporting, but for laughs at three a.m., for not letting me falter, for the confidence they held in me that made me always try my best, and true friendships created in close quarters during every Tuesday night's production. I think there is something to be said for students like them. The Pacifican has been in circulation for this university since 1908; now, in its 97th year I can proudly include my generation of Pacific Tigers in its life. As I now reflect on the past year, I remember how my trusty delivery partner and I hand-delivered the first issue of the year to every room in the residence halls. Some of my favorite memories of the year come from driving around campus in a golf cart, delivering the paper on Thursday mornings. I also want to thank you, the Pacific community, who voiced your own opinions. Thank you for keeping us in check and vouching for free speech. I think that one of our primary accomplishments was our website: www.thepacificanonline.com. Check it out; that's all I really have to say. For next year, I leave you with to you another strong staff and a new string of promising reporters. There is still room for your contribution, Tiger, jump aboard! Without further ado, I introduce you to BEST OF PACIFIC 2006. Views: 327
