Comcast Holds Cartoon Network Preview PDF Print E-mail

Last Thursday, Grace Covell’s Dining Room was invaded by an alcoholic working class father, a ball of meat, a morally conscious young boy, and some back road squid-hicks. This mix of strange characters was featured during the Adult Swim Screening.

Comcast, along with Circuit City, Turner Networks, Red Bull, Pacifica Pizza, and KHOP 95.1, partnered with the university to screen several shows from the Adult Swim lineup on Cartoon Network.

“This is the first time we’ve reached out to the university,” said Comcast Marketing Coordinator Johnelle Hickinbotham. “It’s a good, healthy activity for students to participate in.” Comcast, which provides cable service to Pacific, wanted to strengthen the partnership it’s held with the university.

The event itself included free pizza, Red Bull, free virus scans, and Cartoon Network souvenirs. Karaoke was  available for the vocally trained or not.

Around 40 people attended the 8:00 showing. The crowds fluctuated based on the show playing. Family Guy,  aquateenhungerforce, Boondocks, Moral Orel, and Squidbillies were featured complete with the clever
Adult Swim commercials.

Halfway through the night, a few gallant souls participated in a costume contest. The winner received an iPod Nano.

Events like these may become more commonplace as Comcast is taking more of an interest in Pacific.
