Who are you going to vote for? What you need to know first is who is running and what they have planned for you. Below are profiles of the students running to serve in next year’s student government:
PRESIDENT-VICE PRESIDENT CANDIDATES
Joshua L. Foster (President) & Max C. Barroso (Vice President)
Adam Ellison (President) & Philip Mauriello (Vice President)
MAX BARROSO and JOSH FOSTER
GOALS: ASuop has a lot of potential and it will take the right kind of leaders to maximize all of its capabilities. ASuop will consist of people that are inviting, compassionate, diverse in every way, and ready for anything. We want to encourage student involvement with better Tiger Nights and more events that encourage all students to participate, learn, and have fun together. A problem we see is a lack of Pacific spirit, and the solution may not be in the short term. We want to encourage a discussion about long-term plans that will set this university in motion towards a better student experience for all. We want to hold the administration accountable for their actions; after all, reading the Pacific Rising (goals for the University for the next 15 years) points out the idea of shared governance held within that document. Students are the most important aspect of this university. When the administration says this university is “student centered”, we intend to hold them to their word.
EXPERIENCE: Josh- I am currently the ASuop Vice President. Throughout the past year, I have seen how ASuop works. Knowing it inside and out, I believe I can make changes within ASuop to ensure a more efficient and student friendly environment.
Max- I have gained extensive leadership and organizational experience as president of my fraternity the past year. This position has allowed me to develop skills needed to lead an organization and also guide other officers. I feel that my experience in leadership roles will allow me to be an effective and productive ASuop Vice-President.
WHY SHOULD PACIFIC CHOOSE YOU: We feel that we are the best representatives for the students. We are connected to a number of campus organizations and have a strong relationship with many faculty and staff. Also, through our academic relationships we represent a large group of students, and we work well together. We are proven leaders on this campus.
STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW: We want the voters to know that we will have their best interests in mind when representing them as ASuop President and Vice-President.
